KUNDUZ, Afghanistan - At least one worshipper lost his life and six others sustained injuries as a blast ripped through a mosque in Imam Sahib district of the northern Kunduz province on Friday.

An eyewitness who declined to be named confirmed that the blast took place at 01:35 pm local time in Alefbirdi mosque when dozens of worshipers were offering Friday prayers, leaving at least one dead and six more injured.

In the meantime, another eyewitness Mohammad Karim asserted that some worshippers were killed or injured due to the blast inside the mosque.

Kunduz police spokesman Abidullah Abidi has confirmed the blast, saying it inflicted casualties and details would be made public after the completion of the investigation.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

In late April, a similar blast in a mosque in Kunduz province, for which the hardliner Islamic State group claimed responsibility, left nearly three dozens dead and more than 40 others injured.
