China and Indonesia agreed on Saturday to advance pragmatic cooperation in multiple fields to build a community with a shared future for the two countries.

The pledge was made when visiting State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan co-hosted the second Meeting of China-Indonesia High-level Dialogue Cooperation Mechanism. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi also attended the meeting.

The talks followed the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bali. Indonesia assumes the rotating presidency of the Group of Twenty this year.

Wang noted that China would firmly support Indonesia in holding the G20 Summit in November.

China was willing to work with Indonesia to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to promote the two countries to continue to be at the forefront of solidarity and cooperation in the region and developing countries, Wang said.

Beijing stood ready to work with Jakarta to forge China-Indonesia relations into an exemplary model of mutual benefit, win-win results and common development, as well as a vanguard of South-South cooperation, so as to contribute more to regional stability and world peace, he added.

Luhut said relations between Jakarta and Beijing were of strategic significance and global influence, and Indonesia supported and would proactively participate in the China-proposed Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative.

Indonesia highly valued its close and sound coordination with China, Retno said, adding the country would work with China to focus on the current pressing issues such as peace, food, and energy security to contribute to development and prosperity of the region and the world at large.

The two sides would promote more balanced and high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation, and carry out more financial cooperation on both traditional and new infrastructure projects.

The two countries would continue to conduct high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen the integration of industrial and supply chains as well as values chains to help global economic recovery in the post-pandemic era.

The two sides would promote cooperation in landmark projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway and the Two Countries Twin Parks, and expand cooperation in digital economy and green development.

China and Indonesia would strengthen cooperation in various areas including agriculture, poverty-reduction, food security and anti-pandemic.

Wang said China supported Indonesia in building a regional vaccination center and was willing to help it increase capacity on vaccines and jointly develop vaccine and gene research centers. China would also expand imports of quality agricultural and fishing products from Indonesia, he added.

After the talks, the two sides jointly witnessed a signing ceremony of cooperation documents.
