China Daily | Updated: 2022-07-18 09:04

South Korean carmaker Hyundai premiered its sporty pure electric Ioniq 6 sedan online on Thursday. It is the second model based on its Electric-Global Modular platform, which aims to help Hyundai grab a bigger share of the electric vehicle market.

Thanks to the platform, the model offers 400 volts and 800 V ultrafast charging and has a maximum range of 610 kilometers under the World Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards.

At a 350-kilowatt charge station, it will be able to charge from 30 to 80 percent in just 14 minutes. The model will also offer a "vehicle to load" function where one can charge electronics outdoors, including a laptop or smartphone.

The Ioniq 6 offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants. With its 77.4 kilowatt-hour battery, the range-topping dual-motor setup can deliver a maximum output of 239 kW and a top torque of 605 Newton meters, achieving an acceleration of 0-100 km within 5.1 seconds.

With the 53 kWh battery, the Ioniq 6 RWD will consume 14 kWh per 100 km, making it one of the most energy-efficient models on the market.

The car body measures 4,855 millimeters long, with the wheelbase stretching to 2,950 mm.

Hyundai said the car will start production in the third quarter.
