Consumer associations in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province have summoned children's digital device manufacturer, Little Genius for talks on Monday after media reported that some of its apps contained inappropriate content.

According to the company's website, most of its sales centers are in the three regions. The Beijing Consumers' Association, the Tianjin Consumers' Association and the Hebei Consumers' Rights Protection Committee have had talks with manufacturer, Guangdong Little Genius Technology and have asked the company to reply to a series of written questions before July 28.

China Consumer Journal recently reported that children using Little Genius tablets are able to download games that contain references to violence and criminal activities.

The games also do not limit the amount of time children can spend playing them, and do not require registration to download, the report said.

When they ends, children can opt to continue to play by watching advertisements, which also contain inappropriate content, the report added.

In a statement, Guangdong Little Genius said that it has pulled the offending games from its app store and will ban any others found to contain inappropriate content.
