Mario Draghi has confirmed his resignation as Italy's prime minister. He is standing down after three parties in his coalition government refused to back him in a confidence vote.
The 74-year-old was brought in to guide Italy's government through the pandemic. He was dubbed 'Super Mario' for his handling of the eurozone crisis when he was head of the European Central Bank.
