Bin workers across Scotland continue strike action

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2022-08-31 20:29

Council cleansing staff in Scotland will continue to strike next week after two trade unions rejected the latest pay offer from local authorities.

The strikes led to huge piles of waste building up in Edinburgh during the city's festival fringe, the city's busiest time of year.

Scotland's health secretary, Humza Yousaf, hoped for a resolution "sooner rather than later".

"Nobody wants to see that, particularly when we're showcasing cities like Edinburgh during the fringe festival and we have tourists from across the world coming."
