KUALA LUMPUR -- Six people are missing following a helicopter accident in Malaysia's Pahang state, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said on Wednesday.

The helicopter carrying one pilot and five passengers was flying from Perak state to Pahang state when the accident occurred, it said in a statement.

Search and rescue teams have been dispatched and operations to recover the victims are currently underway, it said.

Separately, Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Azmi Osman said those on board included the pilot and five people who are believed to be Health Ministry staff.

"Our team is on the way, and we are not sure of the condition of those onboard the helicopter as yet," he told local media.
