Film festival connects Chinese and Nigerian people

To strengthen cultural exchanges between Asia and Africa, the 4th Asian Film Festival was held in Abuja, Nigeria, from Nov 21 to 25. The event was jointly organized by nine Asian countries, including China, Iran and South Korea.

Cui Jianchun, Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, and representatives from the nine countries attended the opening ceremony.

Cui said thanks to the effective control of the pandemic and the joint efforts of the organizers, the Asian Film Festival is back. He hoped the event could further enhance the cultural exchanges between Chinese and Nigerian people.

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, director general of the National Council for Arts and Culture, praised the Chinese embassy for "always taking the lead in initiatives and events that foster harmony and unity".

"It is never too late that we can use the platform to showcase Nigeria," he said.

At the opening ceremony, Nigerian singer Aishida song a popular song Nations and Chinese martial arts enthusiasts from the Abuja Wushu Association performed martial arts.
