Seventeen-year-old pianist Huang Zixuan performed in a concert conducted by Liu Ming at the Beijing Concert Hall on Jan 13.

At the concert, Huang performed French composer Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with Beijing Union Symphony Orchestra.

This concert marks the last stop of his recent tour, with two concerts already held in Guangdong province's Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

"This is my first time performing at such a preeminent venue like Beijing Concert Hall. I am very grateful for the conductor and the orchestra, and look forward to another opportunity of performing for the enthusiastic Beijing audience," Huang said.

Huang started learning piano at the age of 7, and is now a student at the Music School attached to Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou.

"Huang presented his technique with aplomb. Although there have been many young pianists with expertise over the last 20 years, he is clearly one of the best," music critic Xu Yao said.

"Young pianists are often inexperienced in working with orchestras, but I can feel that Huang possesses a good sense in this aspect. He was able to maintain abundant communication with the conductor and the orchestra even in the fast-tempo passages."
