China welcomes a visit by the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the country, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Tuesday after it was reported that the tour would take place earlier next month.

Reportedly, Blinken would meet in Beijing with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on February 5-6.

"Both China and the US are in communication over the specific arrangements," Wang said at a regular press briefing.

Wang said China always views and develops Sino-US relations under the guidance of the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, which are put forward by President Xi Jinping.

It is hoped that the US can adopt a correct perception toward China and stick to the dialogue and win-win results rather than engage in confrontation or zero-sum games, Wang said.

He also called for the US to meet China halfway and earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to promote Sino-US relations back on track for a sound and steady development.
