For Chongqing photographer, beauty unfolds slowly

A time-lapse video that captures 12 types of flowers blossoming — one each month over a year's time — attracted many likes and comments online recently.

"The blooming of a flower in a condensed moment of time with time-lapse is both interesting and visually stunning," said Chongqing photographer He Yi, who picked up the hobby of photographing flowers in 2017. She loves to grow flowers in her spare time and feels she has a relationship with them.

She said the collection that came from a dozen of her time-lapse videos — with approximately 48 hours spent on each — took her six years to complete.

"It is a test of timing, energy, patience and technique," she said, adding that she had failed several times before she could finally present a stunning time-lapse video of blooming flower.

She has shot more than 100 types of flowers, and the total number of her pictures has surpassed 1 million.

"I'm planning to photograph other plants as well in the near future," she said.
