Air Macau, the flag carrier of the Macao Special Administrative Region, said it plans to resume daily direct round-trip flights between Macao and Beijing Daxing International Airport on March 26, as it remains confident on a growing travel demand between Macao and the Chinese mainland.

The airline already operates daily direct round-trip flights that connect Macao and Beijing Capital International Airport. Beijing stands as the sixth largest source city of Chinese mainland tourists who visited Macao. In total, Air Macau now operates flights between Macao and 18 Chinese mainland cities, it said.

With the resumption of major routes and gradual increase of flights, Air Macau, founded in 1994, said it would provide convenient choices to help boost economic cooperation, cultural exchanges and personnel communications between Macao and the Chinese mainland.

Air Macau's fleet is comprised of 22 Airbus aircrafts, and it has continued to introduce new aircraft models such as A320neo and A321neo to prepare for further increases of flight frequencies and fierce aviation competitiveness, the company said.

Meanwhile, Macao Government Tourism Office said the city aims to build itself into a world-class leisure travel center. This year, the local tourism bureau will support industrial players to develop new tourism derivative products and strengthen interactions with related sectors.

In the first two months, nearly 3 million tourists visited Macao, and the average hotel occupancy rate was 74 percent, according to the local tourism bureau.
