Trees that were newly planted or that were ready for planting and were involved in a water supply dispute between a coal mine and an individual have been protected and watered in Majiatan township of Lingwu city, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, according to a statement released by local government on Thursday night.

Majiatan township government has arranged water trucks for the 890 trees recently planted by the owner, surnamed Sun, and another 1,000 tree seedlings that are ready for planting have been protected to avoid death caused by lack of water during the settling of dispute, the statement said.

Professional and technical personnel have also taken technical protection measures for the trees that have not yet been planted, it added.

A short video released by Sun on social platform recently attracted growing attention, according to a report by China News Service.

In the video, Sun kneeled on the ground to beg for water for his forest farm and accused a nearby coal mine of affecting the water line.

The coal mine on Wednesday said they were negotiating with Sun about the issue and would release relevant information to the public.
