Liu Liange, former Party chief and chairman of the board of directors of the Bank of China, is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation on suspicion of serious violations of Party disciplines and national laws.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervisory, China's top anti-graft watchdogs, shared the news in a statement on Friday.

Liu, born in 1961, is a native of Jilin province and has been working in bank and finance sectors for a long time.

He once served as the deputy head of the International Department of the People's Bank of China and head of the Anti-Money Laundering Bureau of PBC.

From March 2007 to June 2018, he served in different positions at the Export-Import Bank of China, including the vice president and president.

He became the president of the Bank of China in 2018 and stepped up to the chairman of BOC's board of directors one year later.

On March 19, 2023, BOC issued an announcement saying that the board of directors received Liu's resignation. It said that Liu resigned from his positions due to the adjustment of his work, and the resignation was effective from March 18.
