New drama draws on real history

A drama centered on rescuing Chinese intellectuals during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) made its debut at the Shunyi Grand Theater on Friday.
Donghu Hotel is a modern drama adapted from real history in Huizhou, Guangdong province. In the drama, intellectuals were been rescued and transferred to a safe place with the help of the hotel’s boss.
Dongjiang guerrillas have been invited to watch the drama, as they are the original people from the real-life accident.
It is a drama upholding the spirit of preserving and promoting Chinese culture, according to organizers, and will have another screening in Beijing. In Mid-April, it will be staged in Huizhou five times.
