JAKARTA - A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off North Sulawesi province in central Indonesia on Friday, but did not trigger a tsunami, the country's meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency said.
The agency registered the quake at 17:21 p.m. Jakarta time (1021 GMT) with its epicenter situated at 141 km southeast of the Melonguane sub-district of Talaud islands Regency and a depth of 10 km under the seabed.
The weather agency did not issue a tsunami warning as the tremors did not have the potential to trigger giant waves.
