Symposium brings Marxist scholars together to discuss theoretical development

To further promote academic innovation of Marxist theory, an international symposium was recently organized by scholars from China, Argentina and Uruguay.

To better understand the practice of Marxism and promote the innovation of Marxist theory, an international symposium was recently organized by scholars from China, Argentina and Uruguay.

Held on June 30 in Beijing, the event was jointly hosted by the Academy of Marxism at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Argentina's Center for Marxist Studies and Training Héctor P. Agosti. Its goals were to strengthen the exchange of Marxist theories between the three countries, deepen understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and to promote the theoretical innovation of Marxism in the 21st century.

Participants shared their views on a range of topics related to the implementation of Marxism, such as the Chinese path to modernization, achieving common prosperity and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Zhen Zhanmin, vice-president of CASS and member of the academy's Leading Party Members' Group, stated the strength of Marxism lies in its ability to adapt to the concrete revolutionary practices of all nations and evolve according to the needs of the times.

The history of the Communist Party of China, he said has been a process of constantly advancing the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context as well as promoting theoretical innovation and creation. He also noted China has long had good relations with Latin American countries, expressing his hopes of enhancing exchanges and cooperation with academic and theoretical circles of Argentina and Uruguay, and furthering the development of Marxism and world socialism in the 21st century.

Xin Xiangyang, secretary of the party committee and director of the Academy of Marxism at CASS, said the Chinese path to modernization has been attained through the painstaking efforts of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC, creating a new form of human advancement and demonstrating that modernization need not mean "Westernization".

Victor Kot, general secretary of the Communist Party of Argentina, said under the leadership of the CPC, China has made major achievements in economic and social development, garnering recognition around the world. He also said China has been dedicated to working with other countries to safeguard world peace and security, seeking global development and prosperity and resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation.

Juan Castillo, general secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay, said China's proposed initiatives offer a viable solution to the current deficit in global governance, and played a crucial role in safeguarding world peace and stability as well as promoting unity and cooperation.
