Senior diplomat Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony of the embassy of Solomon Islands in Beijing on Tuesday, saying the development of ties has helped boost the Pacific Island country's growth and brought tangible benefits to the local people.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said the embassy's opening marks yet another important moment in bilateral ties.
China stands ready to work with Solomon Islands to make their cooperation a "benchmark" for cooperation between China and other Pacific Island countries, he said.
Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, who is on a week-long visit to China, joined Wang in inaugurating the embassy.
Sogavare said China has become the largest trade partner for Solomon Islands, and the country will develop relations with China in an unswerving manner and adhere to the one-China principle.
