Beijing urged Washington to earnestly follow through on US President Joe Biden's commitment to not seek decoupling from China, halt China's economic development or contain it, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday.

Mao made the remarks at a regular news briefing in Beijing in response to media reports the Biden administration is considering further restrictions on sales of AI chips to China. She reiterated China's opposition to the US' politicizing and weaponizing trade and technological issues, saying "setting artificial barriers to normal technological cooperation and trade exchanges disrupts market principles and undermines the stability of global industrial and supply chains."

Noting such an act is in the interests of no one, Mao said it is hoped the US side will follow through on Biden's commitments and create a favorable environment for China-US cooperation on trade and economy.
