People chanted slogans in front of the Japanese Prime Minister's official residence on Tuesday during a protest against the Japanese government's plan to release nuclear-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the ocean.
Protesters urged the Japanese government to keep its promise that no action would be taken without the understanding of the parties involved. They also requested the government to listen to fishermen and prefectural citizens who will be directly affected by the discharge.
In spite of domestic and overseas opposition, the Japanese government decided to start releasing nuclear-contaminated water on Thursday if conditions permit.
