Premier Li Qiang has urged the United Kingdom to oppose politicizing economics and trade, and strive to build an open world economy during his meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday in New Delhi, India on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
Li said both countries should uphold open cooperation and maintain and expand common interests.
He called for safeguarding the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core, ensuring the stable and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.
Both sides should properly handle differences, uphold the spirit of inclusiveness and mutual learning, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns, he added.
Sunak said that the UK respects China's history and culture and attaches great importance to China's important role in the international system.
The UK is willing to engage in constructive and frank dialogue with China, strengthen practical cooperation in economic, trade, technology and other fields, properly handle differences, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, and build a stable and mutually beneficial UK-China relationship, he said.
