Saudi Arabia "as an important link to China's far-reaching Belt and Road Initiative" and a major trading partner was highlighted at its 93rd National Day celebrations in Hong Kong.

The event was organized by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Hong Kong and Macao SARs on Sept 22, and was well attended by mostly members of the business, religious and diplomatic community.

Consul General Hamad Aljebreen thanked Hong Kong and Macao SAR governments for their support and said the celebration comes at a time when relations between Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China are seeing important developments raising his country's strategic partnership with China, being a top trading partner of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Indeed, he said, the celebration of Saudi's national day also comes at a time when Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud is seeing remarkable progress with Vision 2030.

"The start of 2023 is very special in terms of growing relations between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong," Aljebreen said, citing the visit of Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu with other business delegates in Saudi Arabia in February, "forging closer economic ties with my country".
