Envoy calls for closer China-India ties at ceremony for 74th National Day
China-India relations have taken on global strategic significance, according to Ma Jia, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Chinese Embassy in India, as she called for the countries to work more closely together at a ceremony marking China's National Day.
Ma urged the two powers to follow the examples of their leaders, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to overcome challenges and build on commonalities and strong trade ties.
Ma's remarks were made at a reception in New Delhi hosted by the Chinese Embassy in India on Sept 25 to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Bilateral trade has performed strongly and the trade volume reached $77.6 billion in the first seven months of this year, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries continue to increase.
China-India economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial, win-win in nature, and an important booster to New Delhi's "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" ("self-reliant India") campaigns, Ma said.
The diplomat also said that China's second centenary goal and India's "Amrit Kaal" development goal – Modi's 2047 vision for a New India -- are the biggest strategic objectives for the two countries.
