Car crashes into Chinese consulate in San Francisco

The driver of a car that crashed into the Chinese Consulate General building in San Francisco on Monday afternoon had been shot by police, according to authorities and local news reports.
A blue Honda sedan crashed into the visa office around 4 pm, according to TV station KRON-4. A man covered in blood was taken away on a stretcher and rushed into an ambulance.
The identity of the driver was not released.
The San Francisco Fire Department told KRON and TV station KPIX that police shot the driver, the San Francisco Examiner reported.
The San Francisco Standard, citing unnamed sources, said police shot the driver, believing that the person was armed. The Standard reported that the building was evacuated.
Authorities confirmed that San Francisco police and fire crews rushed to the scene and shut down Geary Boulevard near Laguna Street for further investigation.
The visa office at the consulate was open for business at the time of the incident, and security guards were present.
The consulate has not commented yet on the incident.
