More than 25 million cases were received by Chinese courts from January to September, up 9.12 percent year-on-year, according to data released by the Supreme People's Court, China's top court, on Tuesday.

During the period, courts nationwide concluded 1.23 million criminal cases, an 11.28 percent year-on-year increase, while over 14 million civil and commercial disputes were concluded, a 6.08 percent year-on-year rise, the data showed.

In the handling of criminal cases, courts across the country focused more on fighting crimes concerning people's livelihoods, such as those relating to drug and food safety, the top court said. The number of civil lawsuits caused by traffic accidents involving delivery people grew rapidly over the period, it added.

In the past nine months, Chinese courts also made great efforts in the hearing of intellectual property disputes, dealing with 17,000 IP cases involving technologies, a 56.7 percent year-on-year rise, it said.
