Chinese NEV brands see soaring deliveries in December

Chinese new energy vehicle makers saw their deliveries soaring in December, according to Securities Daily.
Li Auto, Xpeng and Leap Motor ranked as the top three by deliveries among Chinese NEV startups, recording 50,400, 20,100 and 18,600 in December respectively, up 137.1 percent, 78.1 percent and 119 percent year-on-year.
In addition to startups, new energy brands incubated by traditional car companies have also continued their previous good trend.
Data shows, GAC's Aion sold 46,000 vehicles in December 2023, an increase of 53 percent year-on-year, and the cumulative sales of 2023 exceeded 480,000 vehicles, an increase of 77 percent year-on-year. Chang'an Auto's Deepal delivered 18,000 vehicles in December, a new high for the year. Geely Auto's Zeekr sold 13,000 new cars in December, an increase of 2.84 percent from the previous month, and its cumulative delivery in 2023 reached 119,000 vehicles, an increase of 65 percent year-on-year.
"The competitive landscape of the automotive industry has entered a period of deep reshaping," said Zhang Yongwei, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the China EV 100 at a media communication conference recently, sharing that 2024 should be a year of more intense competition and more differentiation in the competitive landscape.
