China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Tunisian President Kais Saied in Tunis on Monday, where both countries pledged their support for each other and declared their opposition to hegemony.

Tunisia follows the one-China principle and Resolution 2758 of the United Nations General Assembly, and supports China in exercising sovereignty in all of its territory, Saied told Wang.

Tunisia will continue to actively participate in the Belt and Road cooperation, Saied said.

Wang expressed his appreciation for Tunisia's support over issues involving China's core interests and major concerns, and said China supports Tunisia in maintaining its sovereignty, independence and national dignity.

China opposes the behavior of imposing one's own values on others, transforming other countries according to one's own standards and interfering in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights and democracy, and will strengthen coordination with Tunisia, Wang said.

Saied said the history of colonialism should not repeat, and the world must not return to unipolarity.

Tunisia was the second stop of Wang's visit starting on Saturday, which will take him to Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Brazil and Jamaica.
