China and Jamaica expressed their appreciation for each other's support and agreed on further strengthening bilateral ties.

During a meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Kingston, the Jamaican capital on Saturday, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness praised China for lending help without hesitation when his country faced difficulties.

Pragmatic cooperation with China has effectively supported the improvement of Jamaica's economy and its people's lives, Holness said.

Jamaica will continue to follow the one-China policy, prioritize its ties with China and build a strong strategic partnership with China, he said.

Wang, for his part, said China has believed that all countries, big or small, should be treated with equality.

China never interferes in other countries' internal affairs, engages in geopolitical scrambles, or forces other countries to take sides, Wang said, adding that China respects Jamaica's system and way of life, and supports it in playing a bigger role in regional and international affairs.

China also hopes to expand cooperation with Jamaica in fields such as trade, investment, new energy, agriculture and digital economy, he said.
