On Jan 20, 2024, the 2024 Liaoning Mass Ice and Snow Hot Spring Experience Season and the Panjin China's Northernmost Coast Ice Challenge, jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Liaoning Province, the Provincial Sports Bureau, and the People's Government of Panjin, opened at the Honghaitan National Scenic Corridor in Panjin.

The event drew thousands of visitors, including foreign tourists from Russia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Together, they enjoyed the ice and snow activities and immersed themselves in the local folk culture. In interviews, the foreign tourists expressed their admiration for Panjin's unique ecological environment, which provided them with an extraordinary ice and snow travel experience. They also highlighted the deep folk cultural heritage of the region, which added a sense of "warmth" and "depth" to the ice and snow activities, making it a unique experience that captured their hearts.

Since the inaugural China's Northernmost Coast Ice Challenge in 2015, Panjin has gradually developed a strategic concept of promoting tourism through sports and leveraging competition for tourism. The 2024 Panjin China's Northernmost Coast Ice Challenge is divided into three major scenes: "Ice and Snow + Event Scene", "Ice and Snow + Folk Scene", and "Ice and Snow + Cultural and Creative Scene". It features ten chapters, including activities such as "Crossing the Dragon Gate" to experience the most beautiful winter, "Flavor of the Liaohe River Estuary" Northeast Folk Exhibition, "Ice Fun on the Ice" joyful ice activities, and "Ice and Fire Wonderland" ice house hotpot.

The event has successfully turned the ice challenge into a symbol of ice and snow tourism in Panjin, showcasing the folk culture of Northeast China and becoming a window to showcase the folk culture of the region.

Panjin aims to leverage the opportunity presented by hosting the "15th Winter Games" in Liaoning. The city plans to strengthen ice and snow projects, amplify brand effects, and expand the ice and snow economy, creating a high-quality integrated development demonstration zone for culture, sports and tourism. The ultimate goal is to transform the "traffic" brought by the event into the "increment" that drives the development of Panjin's cultural and tourism industry.

The 2024 Panjin China's Northernmost Coast Ice Challenge marks the beginning of the 2024 Liaoning Trillion Cultural and Sports Tourism Strategy and serves as a unique gift to Panjin as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, showcasing the city's commitment to winter tourism and cultural development.
