With the Spring Festival approaching, a town famous for its swans in Lidao's Yandunjiao area, Weihai, Shandong province, once again welcomes its liveliest time of the year. As a habitat of the mute swan, from November to March of the following year, tens of thousands of beautiful swans return to spend the winter.

As a result, the surrounding areas have become popular tourist destinations during the festival, where numerous visitors and photography enthusiasts go to observe the beautiful creatures. In Yandunjiao Village, the swans and local seafood have given rise to more than 60 fully electrified homestay restaurants.

The director of the Lidao power supply bureau said: "At this time every year, the power supply in the scenic area becomes our top priority."

As the return of the swans draws closer, the State Grid Weihai Power Supply has invested more than 1.5 million yuan ($209,390) in electrification projects for the village, focusing on upgrading the distribution network equipment. After the projects, the capacity of the supporting transformers reached 2,460 KiloVolt-Ampere.

Special inspections were also conducted on the 10 kV lines in the scenic area. The staff members thoroughly cleared the line passages, and increased inspection and maintenance efforts of equipment and lines in the jurisdiction. In areas prone to accidents, the company increased equipment inspection times and sent professional personnel out for maintenance.

"When using the electrical appliances, if any abnormal sounds, odors, smoke, or flames are observed, the power should be immediately cut off and we should be contacted," said a staff member of the company, who is conducting the "Blue Guardian" special service. Every time they pass by a homestay restaurant, they carefully inspect the indoor and outdoor electrical wiring and equipment and introduce the safety precautions to the owners.

A tourist surnamed Li from Guangzhou said: "Here, you can watch the swans and charge your devices, it's really convenient."

The State Grid Weihai Power Supply has also introduced new energy and eco-friendly projects and established an integrated wind-solar-energy storage station. They are also providing diversified services such as volunteer services for tourists, business owners and residents.

"We will make full efforts to secure the power supply during the Spring Festival in the tourist areas," said the company head.
