Technicians at the ultra-high voltage Nanyang station of State Grid Henan unit have conducted detailed inspections of the station's equipment and carried out lean operation and maintenance work last week, in an effort to ensure the stable operation of ultra-high voltage equipment during the cold wave.

Henan has experienced large-scale rain and snowfall, with cumulative snowfall reaching a record high. It also has witnessed other weather hazards such as lightning, freezing rain, strong winds and low temperatures, posing risks and challenges to the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

Responding to challenging weather, Henan has completed a round of hazard investigation and control activities in advance, carrying out special inspections on 932 substations, 615 end equipment, 2,026 distribution lines and 28,000 areas, said its power supplier.

In addition, 57 sets of online monitoring devices were urgently installed, and the ultra-high voltage station has also implemented staffers stationed in 186 substations on duty to ensure all-time human control.

To date, State Grid Henan Power Supply Co has put more than 16,000 emergency repair personnel, more than 3,000 emergency repair vehicles, 135 power generation vehicles, one set of fixed and five sets of mobile DC de-icing devices and 198 sets of de-icing and repair tools into operation, striving to ensure safe and stable power supply amid rainy, snowy, and frozen weather and festive times.
