Power supplier upgrades service to assist key enterprises

The State Grid Corp of China, the world's largest utility which shoulders a dual task of safeguarding the country's energy security as well as its economic lifeline as a mighty power supplier, is offering tailor-made services to assist key enterprises.

In Yuncheng county under the prefecture-level city of Heze in East China's Shandong province, one of the country's top couriers, YTO Express, is inputting 550 billion yuan ($76.4 million yuan) to set up YTO's first new-mode hub incorporating cross-border e-commerce with industrial park operations.

The local branch of the State Grid is taking a three-pronged approach to better serve this key industrial firm, which can handle more than 100 million parcels annually once operational, said Yuan Chengxu from Yuncheng Power Supply Co of the State Grid.

Covering an area of 11.2 hectares, the Heze Yuanjietong Logistics Co Ltd will be the largest regional headquarters in southwestern Shandong for YTO Express, which was established in Shanghai in 2000, and now has two listed companies with some 5,100 subsidiaries and a staff of over 450,000 people.

Yuan said their three-pronged approach, which aims to ensure fast electric power for key projects, covers "two instant moves" to connect with clients, "one template" to standardize power expansion contract and "two co-ordinations" to elevate internal work efficiency.

He noted that "two instant moves" require State Grid business managers to join the local government's WeChat group for investment promotion and get real-time electricity-application information, in addition to publicizing the Online State Grid mobile app to customers, who can receive instant service for online applications for electric power.

With the "two instant moves", his colleagues paid some 200 trips to key enterprises in the region, helping cut their application time for electric power by 20 percent in 2023, Yuan said.

Meanwhile, the "one template" — initiated by Yuncheng Power Supply Co and its superior Heze Power Supply Co of the State Grid — aims to safeguard rapid power access for customers by stipulating the project quantity, duration, quality standard, rights and responsibilities of both power supplier and the client in their contract for a power expansion project, he said.

Furthermore, the "two coordinations" ask them to set up a service team headed by a customer manager and a project manager for each new project, to bolster fast inter-company coordination. They also set up a working group to help reduce electricity cost for a new firm by providing supportive business funds for electric power expansion, Yuan said.

He stressed that, in 2023, by providing such supportive business funds, the Yuncheng Power Supply Co helped the power applicants to save 9.13 million yuan in investment for accessing electric power, including 1.41 million yuan for Heze Yuanjietong Logistics Co Ltd.

On Feb 18, when some staffers from Yuncheng Power Supply Co paid an on-site visit to Yuanjietong Logistics Co Ltd, they won high praises from its manager Liu Xue, who noted that "your enthusiastic and thoughtful services have not only saved us a lot of electricity cost, but also brought extended power supply lines for us."

Yuan added that, in the new year, his company will perfect their work as a power supplier, by focusing on clients and providing front-loaded services, in a bid to optimize the power business environment.
