China's mission to help build a community with a shared future for mankind in the new era has been welcomed by the international community. To ensure the peaceful and sustainable development of the world order in which all countries get equal and fair treatment, we have to accept that economic globalization and a multipolar world order with diversified political ideologies are the only way forward.

The Chinese policy that humanity has a shared stake in development, and that global stability cannot be achieved without the active participation of developing countries in all global systems is all-encompassing and representative.

Following the launch of reform and opening-up, which facilitated its rapid economic development and modernization, China embarked on a path of peaceful rise and helped create abundant opportunities for other countries to develop their respective economies.

China's interactions and engagements with other developing countries have widened the friends' circle of the country, while encouraging marginalized countries to speak out at regional and international forums and meetings, and assert their rights to development. This shows how important China's contribution to global governance has been over the past decades.

On the domestic front, China's fast-paced economic growth has expedited social and cultural development, and created awareness about the importance of ecological and environmental health.

The intensifying engagement of China with the international community, especially with other developing countries, under the banner of "shared future for mankind", has become a bridge connecting countries around the world. The success of China can be gauged from the fact that it realized the first and perhaps the most difficult UN Sustainable Development Goal, "No Poverty", 10 years ahead of schedule, and by doing so it also achieved the second SDG, "Zero Hunger". Needless to say it is ahead of other countries in realizing many of the other 15 SDGs.

With its focus on shared interests, China has always been at the forefront of making the cake of prosperity bigger so others could get their fair share of it. China's cooperation with other nations on development projects is a form of mutual assistance. Also, China's development model has become an example for developing nations to learn from and boost their economic development.

China's contributions to the well-being of humankind as a whole, including its contributions to global development and governance organizations, and its development partnerships with other countries have yielded positive results for all. Indeed, China has expanded and diversified its global development cooperation over the past years.

With the highly inclusive Belt and Road Initiative, and the expansive and all-embracing Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, China has emerged as a leading proponent of South-South cooperation.

Besides, all the China-proposed initiatives are mutually beneficial as they are based on the lessons drawn from developing countries' experiences. Take the Belt and Road Initiative for example. The white paper, "China's International Development Cooperation in the New Era", released in January said that the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road are significant public goods that China offers to the world and a major platform for international cooperation on development.

China has joined hands with other developing countries to promote policy, infrastructure, trade, financial and people-to-people connectivity, in order to build the Belt and Road Initiative into a platform promoting peace, prosperity, innovation, green development and cultural exchanges.

To be sure, China's initiatives are winning hearts and minds around the globe because of their inclusive and mutually beneficial nature, and for helping humankind to deal with common global challenges such as climate change, poverty, unemployment, lack of infrastructure, and threat to food security and national security.

China's approach to a shared future for humankind and arduous efforts to solve common global problems to pave the way to peaceful and prosperous development are meant to ensure all countries take part in the journey of development that is not exclusive and has no copyrights.

The fast-changing, globalized and interconnected world needs to move forward rationally by keeping in mind the development needs of all countries and regions, as well as the reality of the 21st century.

China's approach to development based on its own experience and lessons learned from its long history shows that cooperation for it means improving the well-being of humankind.
