A series of public activities aimed at promoting the Central Axis of Beijing through the seal-carving art form was launched at an opening ceremony held on Monday at Beijing's China Millennium Monument.

Three main events have been introduced — seal-carving activities tailored for children and teenagers, an exhibition showcasing seal carving works, as well as an award ceremony in honor of those who contributed to the promotion of Beijing's Central Axis.

Participants to these events will have the chance to attend lectures on seal carving and culture in China, and get hands-on experiences and small-scale exhibitions at Subway stations.

At the ceremony, 16 representatives from organizations that supported the activity marked its launch by stamping seals onto a scroll painting depicting heritage sites along the Central Axis.

The ceremony was accompanied by an exhibition introducing 15 heritage sites along the axis, each with a unique seal created by designers from the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Visitors will be able to collect these seals at certain heritage sites, subway stations along Beijing's line 8, the Beijing Central Axis Protection Foundation as well as the China Millennium Monument.
