April has become a visual extravaganza for Chinese anime enthusiasts, with the recent release of Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning film The Boy and the Heron followed by the highly anticipated arrival of Spy x Family Code: White, one of Japan's highest-grossing films this year, hitting theaters across the Chinese mainland on April 30.

Based on the manga series Spy × Family by Japanese artist Tatsuya Endo, the film delves into the captivating escapades of a fictitious family unit, comprising a spy father, an assassin mother, and their telepathic daughter, as they embark on a thrilling new adventure.

The movie made its grand debut at the Solana shopping complex in downtown Beijing on April 20, featuring the world's inaugural outdoor screening on an LED screen of CINITY, a colossal screen system developed in-house by China. The event also boasted a sprawling 1,000-square-meter area meticulously crafted to replicate iconic settings and props from the film.

Having premiered in Japan on Dec 2, the movie has garnered an impressive 8.1 out of 10 rating on the popular review aggregator Douban, signaling its widespread appeal and acclaim.

Interestingly, the eve of the lucrative Labor Day holiday on April 30 will witness the simultaneous release of two Japanese animated films in Chinese theaters. Alongside Spy x Family Code: White, audiences will also be treated to the debut of Miyazaki's 2004 classic Howl's Moving Castle, marking its first-ever import to the Chinese mainland.
