Innovations urged to better serve industries, modernization

Consisting of school-level preliminaries, provincial competitions, and national finals, the final competition greeted 135 outstanding projects contributed by 132 colleges in all the 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland, as well as five teams from vocational schools in Hong Kong and Macao.
The projects covered more than 10 fields including agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, food and related industries, cultural creativity, mechanical energy, electronic information, and biomedicine.
Upon evaluation, Chengdu Technician College's project "Assembly-type Portable Flexible Vacuum Suction Cup" won first prize for the secondary vocational education division, Taiyuan Tourism Vocational College's project "Shaanxi Craftsmanship —Ancient Architecture Mortise and Tenon Model" won first prize for the higher vocational education division, while Guangzhou Software College's project "Chip Test — Leading the Automation Upgrade of Flash Memory Chip Testing Line" got first prize for the four-year vocational education division.
During the national finals, signing ceremonies for events such as project achievements application, school-enterprise cooperation and employment internships were also held. At the closing ceremony, relevant speakers shared their experiences in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The China Vocational Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has been successfully held in Hunan, Fujian, Anhui, Chongqing, Guangxi and Sichuan during the past, drawing over 800 projects and more than 3,000 teachers and students from vocational schools nationwide for the national finals, covering such industries as modern agriculture and equipment manufacturing.
It has been learned that through the competitions, the practical innovation and entrepreneurship abilities of students in vocational schools have been largely increased, helping promote the study, teaching and creation activities of the participating students.
