To mark the ninth anniversary of the United Nations' adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Xiamen Airlines will decorate the windows of its aircraft named United Dream with paper-cutting artwork created by Ye Kaiyuan.
Inspired by six goals among 17 in the agenda, the paper-cutting artist has made six designs representing zero hunger, quality education, affordable and clean energy, peace, justice and strong institutions, life below water and life on land.
"Interpreting these goals with the auspicious symbolism of the ancient art form of paper-cutting, it conveys the aspirations of building a community with a shared future for mankind using Chinese elements," Ye said.
Xiamen Airlines signed an agreement with the UN in 2017 to support the new development agenda, adopted by the agency's 193 member states in 2015 to end poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate change.
