One year after its launch, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Indonesia celebrates strong growth by handling 5.79 million passenger trips as of Thursday, according to China Railway International, which oversees the line's operation.
On the peak day, 99.6 percent of seats were taken on the train. Over the year, trains have safely traveled a distance of over 2.57 million kilometers along the line, reflecting safe and efficient operations as well as significantly boosting regional connectivity, according to the company.
The 142-kilometer Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, which has a designated maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, cuts travel time between the Indonesian capital and the popular tourist destination from 3 hours 30 minutes to 40 minutes. It is the first high-speed railway in Southwest Asia.
