The central authorities have recently urged departments at all levels to put in place the systematic arrangements for further comprehensively deepening reform that were emphasized in the resolution adopted by the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee in mid-July.
Ever since the third plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee in November 2013 opened a new path for China to comprehensively deepen reform, the country's efforts to advance reform on all fronts have yielded substantial results.
Over the past decade, the country has continuously gained impetus, activated vitality and rallied forces from all sectors of society through reforms, lifting its economic, scientific and technological, and overall national strength to a new level. The country has continuously consolidated and fortified the strengths of its socialist system, giving full play to its advantages and making improvements in its weak areas. It has continuously turned theories into guiding principles for further deepening reform. A series of substantial results achieved across practical, institutional and theoretical dimensions have provided a strong driving force and institutional guarantee for China to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Also, China has broken through ideological shackles and the barriers of entrenched interests, and resolutely addressed institutional shortcomings in all areas to advance reform. Improving the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a dynamic process, and comprehensively deepening reform in the new era provides a solid foundation and valuable experiences for further deepening reform in the new journey.
China is at a critical juncture in its bid to develop itself into a strong country and promote national rejuvenation. The more complex the environment is, the more it needs to strengthen confidence, gather strength, and strive to open up new horizons for reform and development. With reform and opening-up, the country will have better prospects of advancing Chinese modernization.
