The frontline troops of Chinese and Indian militaries are implementing the resolutions reached by the two nations on border issues, a Chinese defense spokesman said on Thursday.

In a news conference held on Thursday, Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang made the remarks in response to latest China-India border situation.

"China and India have reached resolutions on issues concerning the border areas through diplomatic and military channels," he said, noting that the frontline troops of both sides are making progress in implementing the resolutions orderly.

The spokesman highlighted that the two nations' top leaders held a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, in late October.

In the meeting, both sides agreed that China and India should view and handle the relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, and make sure that differences on specific issues would not affect the overall ties, he said.

"We hope the Indian side will work together with China, take the important common understandings between the two state leaders as guidance, continuously implement the above-mentioned resolutions, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas," Zhang said.
