Six people detained for building collapse in Jilin

Six people have been detained as being responsible for a recent building collapse in Northeast China's Jilin province, the provincial authorities said during a meeting on Friday.
A part of the roof of an ice skating rink in Baicheng city collapsed on Nov 18, fortunately without causing any casualties, according to a previous statement by the local emergency management bureau.
The provincial authorities said the accident was caused by the substandard quality of the material used in the construction project.
The local police have detained six suspects for the related crimes, while other personnel are under further investigation, reported in an official statement of the meeting on Friday.
Hu Yuting, the Jilin governor, warned at the meeting that the period around the end of the year would be a time prone to multiple accidents.
He emphasized the need to maintain a high level of vigilance, strengthen risk assessment, enhance the predictability and initiative of work, and reinforce prevention and control at the source of any major accidents and disasters.
