China vows to help export enterprises

China has vowed to help its export-oriented foreign trade enterprises explore the domestic market in the face of the willful tariff hikes placed by the United States, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

The unwarranted imposition of tariffs by the US has seriously infringed on China's legitimate rights and interests, suppressed bilateral trade, and dealt a tough blow to Chinese foreign trade firms, He Yongqian, a spokeswoman with the ministry, told a press conference.

China will effectively utilize policies such as the consumer goods trade-in program, premium goods promotional events, integrated development of domestic, and foreign trade, in order to help foreign trade enterprises steer into the domestic market, he said.

"We can see that the potential of China's super-large domestic market is constantly being unleashed, and the policies to stabilize the economy and foreign trade are being continuously implemented," He said. "China's foreign trade sector has the confidence and capability to withstand various risk challenges".

As the world's second-largest economy and second-largest consumer market, China has reaffirmed its unwavering determination to advance its high-level opening-up, despite the tariffs imposed by the US, He said, adding that China's pursuit of its own stable development will inject more certainty into the global economy.
