The major venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the National Stadium, or Bird's Nest, is now inviting corporations to bid on the names of its 84 boxes, Beijing Daily reported Tuesday.

The National Stadium Co Ltd, the stadium's owner and manager, said all 84 boxes, located on the fourth floor of the stadium, with the best views over the whole stadium, are available for sale.

The owners of the corporate boxes have naming rights to the boxes over two- to 20-year terms. They can also decorate them with corporate logos if they like.

The maintenance of the stadium requires about 70 million yuan every year, previous media reports show. And the owner of the stadium sought to finance its shortage of operations funds by holding a series of sporting and cultural events there, such as the Italian Super Cup final, Formula One, and the luxurious retelling of Puccini's opera "Turandot."
