Cold front to sweep South China

BEIJING - A cold front will hit China's southern regions over the coming three days, dragging down temperatures, meteorological authorities said Sunday.

The cold front will drop temperatures by three to six degrees Celsius in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and regions south of the river from February 26 to 28, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Meanwhile, cloudy and rainy weather will continue to affect regions along the Yangtze and Huai rivers during the period, the center said.

Parts of Guizhou province in Southwest China will see icy rains, it added.

The center also forecast light and moderate snow in parts of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, eastern parts of Northwest China, Central and northern parts of Northeast China, as well as northern parts of North China during the same period.

Heavy snow will sweep eastern parts of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during the period, the center noted.
