BEIJING - Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo talked about bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula with US National Security Adviser Thomas Donilon by phone Thursday.
The two sides said they are ready to make joint efforts to implement the crucial consensus reached by Chinese President Hu Jintao and US President Barack Obama and solidify the achievements made during Vice President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States in February.
Both sides expressed the will to keep forging ahead along the right track of building a cooperative partnership of mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Dai said the recent important headway carved in the negotiations between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was hard-won.
He said relevant parties should keep calm and exert restraint in light of the current overall situation and long-term benefits and act cautiously to maintain peace and stability on the Peninsula, which is in line with the common interests of all sides.
