Chen Quanguo elected CPC chief of Tibet autonomous region

Chen Quanguo was elected Communist Party chief of Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region on November 15, 2011.

Chen was elected secretary of the Tibet Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the first plenary session of the 8th CPC Tibetan Regional Committee held in Lhasa, the region's capital.

Chen was born in the central province of Henan in 1955, and joined the CPC in 1973.

He was appointed to his current position in August after serving as governor of North China's Hebei province for 11 years.
