NEW DELHI - The Fourth BRICS Summit started its restricted session here Thursday morning, with leaders of five major emerging countries gathering to discuss political, economic and social issues of mutual and international interest.

Leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa took a group photo before starting the session at the Taj Palace hotel, which will be followed by a plenary session later in the morning.

Chinese diplomats said earlier that Chinese President Hu will elaborate on China's position on global governance, sustainable development, and cooperation among BRICS countries at the summit, which features the theme of BRICS countries' commitment to the partnership of stability, security and prosperity.
