Qingdao promotes new FAW-VW plant

Officials of Qingdao municipal government and a delegation of the Volkswagen Group had working-level talks in Qingdao on July 22.

Li Qun, member of the Standing Committee of Shandong Province, Zhang Xinqi, mayor of Qingdao, capital of Shandong province and Jochem Heizmann, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, attended the meeting and talked about the preparations of the new FAW-VW plant, facilities and the related industry chain.

The new plant in Jimo is expected to achieve sales of more than 300,000 vehicles in 2017. Meanwhile, automotive parts enterprises will be built to accelerate the development of the automobile industry in Qingdao.

FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between the FAW Group and Volkswagen Group, will build a new plant in the Automobile Industry Park in Jimo, Qingdao.

The company’s headquarters is based in Changchun, Jilin province, where it also has two vehicle assembly plants. It has two additional assembly plants in Chengdu, Sichuan province, and Foshan, Guangdong province.
