Lijiang ancient town celebrates "China Tourism Day" in 2012

Since 2011, the State Council has set May 19 as the "China Tourism Day". The public gradually realized that tourism plays an important part in economic development and civilization.

The world cultural heritage Lijiang ancient town protection administration has started some beneficial activities in the Yuhe Square to celebrate the "China Tourism Day" on May 19, 2012. These activities are titled, "like visiting, like life" and "live healthily, visit happily".

With leadership from the Lijiang ancient town protection administration, several posters have been hung in Yuhe Square, Lion mountain park, and the former residence of Fang Guoyu in Lijiang ancient city. Slogans have been posted, such as, "accelerate tourism development, improve tourism and strengthen the economic city", "establish an environment for supporting, taking part in and developing tourism", "civilized, low-carbon, environmental protection, safe tourism", "restructure the tourism environment", and "improve tourism services". The China Tourism Day has been greatly promoted through these means.

Several beneficial measures were taken in the Lijiang ancient city. Lion mountain park was opened to the local tourists for free on "China Tourism Day". Tourists from other places were given a 20 percent discount on May 19, 2012. Former residence of Fang Guoyu and the Xueshan academy were open to tourists for free. The public appreciated the interesting tours.

A series of services were offered to polish Lijiang ancient town's environment. The Lijiang ancient town protection administration regulated the operation of shops and enlarged the commodity varieties to meet the public's requirement. Tourists were able to enjoy more standard, regulated and special services.

Lijiang ancient town protection administration handed out a "Civilized tour initial written proposal" to help tourists pay attention to low-carbon consumption, environmental protection and safety.

The beneficial activities on the "China Tourism Day" improved the public's knowledge of the tour and aroused people's enthusiasm. These activities created a good atmosphere that encouraged people to take part in and support tourism.
