The gunfight started in the evening and lasted for several hours. In the exchange of fire between militants and contingents of Indian army and police, two militants were killed.

"The gunfight has stopped in the village. Two militants, of which one was a commander of LeT, have been killed during the stand-off," said a police official posted in Kishtwar.

The officials have also claimed recovery of some arms and ammunition from the possession of the slain militants.
